Short Desicription:

Arthus is/was the Lich King, but to know about the lich king in general. It’s was originally about this orc Ner’Zhul who was a shaman and lead the burning legion to them. Ner’Zhul stays in the outland and keeps trying to open new portals to different worlds, and eventually gets sucked into one of them.

Kil’jaeden the leader of the Buring Legion and get s Ner’Zhul and focus’s them to the Ice crown citadel. And then gets frozen in ice for a very long time.
Arthus is from Lorderon (the undead city in world of warcraft) this is all before warcraft 2. Lorderon was just one of the human capital cities. Arthus grows up in lorderon under his father as the king, he is a humble prince and the people really love him. At the start of the book he sees a horse been born and eventually becomes his horse, and he names it invincible, this a major part of his childhood.

Arthus learns about the other king being killed, and all these refugees are coming up to seek refuge in lordoren. Arthus sees lortha and khadgar for the first time and they make an alliance, and everyone joins up and fights the orcs. Read more below

Arthus: the Rise of the Lich King - What Happens

Bronzebread, sees Arthus practicing to fight with this sword, and bronzebread teaches him everything he needs to know about fighting. Arthus meets Jaina Proudmoore, and sort of falls in love with her. Eventually Jaina leaves to daleran for additional training.
Arthus later on goes to visit Jaina and they really hit it off and it’s like a teenage relationship. There is a love triangle between Arthus, Jaina, Kulthus sunstrider, and he walks in on Arthus and Jaina kissing and gets pissed and starts to hate Arthus.

Arthus Heads Home and continues to training. While he was riding jumps this jump he always does and it’s snowing and the horse gets impaled and tries to call on the light to heal his beloved horse and he can’t, because he hasn’t been trained by Uther. They go on to bury it outside belnear farm, and Arthus feels alone and sad and continually blames himself for what happened to his horse.

This is around the same time that the humans won the second war and Stormwind is getting rebuilt and all the orcs are getting enslaved. Urther is back now and is the first paladin in the silver hand and starts to train Arthus in the ways of the light and all the disciplines.

As you continue to read you see Arthus and Jaina sending more and more time together as they grow older. And you see how their relationship builds and eventually deciding to be together. One night they were camping at the middle of the night seek out to go and see one of the orc’s in one of the main internment camps, because Arthus has never seen one. You continue to find out that Arthus is ready at any time to become king and is just waiting for the moment his father hands it down.

The human land is spending the tax payers money entering these orcs and they are like let’s just kill the orcs, Arthus goes down to meet Blackmore, to see how the internment camps are being run. Arthus ask Blackmore about this orc that his is training up. This is Thrall! Yeah! They throw a tournament just for Arthus present. Arthus meets Thrall and Arthus is shocked by the sheer size of Thrall.

Blackmore send Taretha Foxton with dinner and fully dressed up to Arthus offering her services to Arthus, Arthus eventually catches on and tell Taretha Foxton to stay have the dinner she brought him and stay for as long as she wishes.

Arthus hears new of a plague going across lorderon and meets Jaina again, in a really cool way. Arthus is with his army and they see a girl in the distance running from 2 orges and the army general say men we have to help her and Arthus sees who it is and see has a smirk on her face. He tells his man to stand down and Jaina turns around and burns both of the orges to ashes.

So Jaina and Arthus are traveling through Brill and not one is around. Arthus calls out to the people, and there isn’t a response and they smell death. They see a couple of undead come out and they start fighting for their life. And this evil mage shows up and it’s Kel'Thuzad and Jaina tells him to stop and he reveals his plan to infect the wheat grain at Andorhall which then gets distributed throughout the human cities, to spread the plague.
They travel there and they find out about the grain, and Arthus is trying to be the hero and defend his people. He kills Kel’Thuzad and tells him about this daemon called Malganus who is in Strathohm.

So Arthus and Jaina along with the troop all are pushing hard to get to Strathohm before the grain gets there. They take a small break basically for Jaina becuase she becomes weak and they rekindle their relationship, and he tells her he will marry her and she will be the queen.
The next morning they wake up and they smell the fresh of the undead and they know there about to be under attack, Arthus tells Jaina to go and get Uther and he will be able to help with this massive undead problem, and she teleports out of there.

And Arthus sees a present die and they get resurrected into the undead, and then his puts it together and realizes what the plague is doing.
And on their way to Stratholm and Medivh shows up! Massive right and tells him to leave to Kalimdor and Arthus is pissed off by Medivh’s message because he belive he can save his people. Arthus continues on to Stratholm, to find out that the grain has arrived and made into bread and distributed. Arthus turns to Jania and Uther and tells them they have to purge the city. Uther and Jaina leave and Arthus is destroyed that Jaina left him, and he is by himself. Arthus goes around the city killing all the people.

Malganus is on the other side of the city turning people into undead. Arthus is the other side and his killing the incent people. Malganus and Arthus are about to fight, and then Malganus says I will see you in northern and Arthus and his army travel to northern, to kill Malganus.
Medivh comes and talks to Jaina and convinces her to take the humans to Kalimdor. Arthus are in Northernd now and they about to set up camp and they start seeing crypt lords which a massive undead ants. They kill them all and continue and as he does this his hammers light becomes dull, because he is becoming less and less holy.

Arthus is looking for Malganus and he hears Muradin Bronzebeard calling for help. And they are shocked to see each other and they go back to their camp and share their stories and ate. Muradin Bronzebeard tells Arthus that they are looking for an artifact. And Arthus tells Muradin Bronzebeards about back home except Stratholm.

The dwarfs tell him about the rune blade “Frostmourne” and Arthus tells him that he could use it against Malganus. They are in a Massive fight and Arthus and bronze bread go off to find the sword. They find it in a cave and on the side of the frostmourne , it basically says it’s a cursed blade and Bronze bread tells Arthus that it is and they should leave, Arthus refuses and tells him it’s the only way to win.

As he approaches the sword the ice encasing it shatters and Arthus blocks all the shards but Bronze bread isn’t so lucky and get hit in the chest by one. Arthus starts to payer to the light to heal him, but of course the light isn’t so strong as it should be, but he feels the warmth of the light and he is about to heal him, and the sword starts to talk to him. And the image of Arthus being able to save his people and get visions of the future and how it will be, over take him and he forgets about bronze beard.

Arthus shows up to the camp which are losing badly and Arthus turns the tide, because the Frostmourne is hungry and Arthus is just hacking at everyone. Malganus shows up and tells him how this was his plan the whole time. Malganus goes on to explain how the lich king is in there, Ner’Zhul is orc in the ice, yep. Malganus is talking to Arthus about how it’s all a part of his plan and he saying to Arthus so what’s the blade saying to you? That all the plans have gone exactly as planned? And Arthus says NO! It’s telling me to kill you. Arthus stabs Malganus and kills him.
Arthus returns to Lorderen and this welcome home, they are all super happy to see him, walks into the throne room and kills his father. Arthus then turns his back on the people and starts to ransack the city. Arthus goes after this to resurrect his beloved horse invincible and can summon it on will. From now on Arthus and his Blade both Hunger for Death and Killing.

Arthus needs a urn and the sword tells him there is a funeral party going by and go and get this urn. Once Arthus Gets there is realizes that it’s his fathers, Uther’s there and Arthus and him fight, and Arthus is shocked by how strong the light is. But he eventually kills him after an epic battle. Soon after getting the urn putting Malganus remains into it and take his undead army to the eleven city to resurrect him in the sunwell, Also After battling the king of the elves, he kills him and turns him into a lich and Silvanus loses to Arthus in a battle and Arthus tells Silvanus that he has a fate worse than death. And gets turnt into a banshee and Arthus inflicts pain on her and makes her scream and because she is a banshee her scream kills his enemies.

The Burning Legion then tells Arthus to head to Daleran to get the Book of Medivh, which they need to summon the Lord of the Burning Legion. They get to Dalaren and the mages even with all their magic can’t stop Arthus and his undead army. They then return to and summon the Lord of the Burning legion, and he says that the Burning Legion is done with the lich king, the Frost mourne tell Arthus to stay calm and to not worry, and they just leave. Arthus returns to Lorderen with only 3 Daemons to watch over him.

Arthus seeks out Illidan and they have a fight but they are so equally match not nothing comes of it.
Arthus tells illidan about the skull of Gun’dan and that’s why he gets turnt into a daemon looking illidan with the wings and horns. This helps them win and illidan turns the tide with the burning legion.

But after getting turnt away from the high elves because of the daemon side of him. So the Burning Legion lost and the lich king and Arthus are still alive. Arthus all of a sudden is in a massive amount of pain and is screaming in annoy, but Sylvanas is loving it because she hates Arthus for everything his has done. After a while she finds her body and she now looks like an undead high elf and has allot more will of her own.
She organizes the 3 daemons along with all their undead and Sylvanas’s undead all attack Arthus and his undead, Arthus is losing , and escapes in a secret passage that he knows about because he lived there as a child, he runs into a banshee and she says to follow her and that Sylvanus is waiting in the forest.

He gets out there and she shots him with a paralyzing shot and give this massive speech about how he isn’t as powerful anymore etc, and they just before she is about to kill him Kulzdar saves him. And they travel to northern, to protect Nuk ‘zul and his power from the Frostmourn.
As he arrives he finds out that he is fighting high elves, and he again almost loses, and this massive lord of the crypt lord saves him and that they where 1000’s of years old and that they serve the lick king because he brought as back to life.

Arthus runs into his old enemy Kall and illidan, before this illidan and Kil’jaeden talked and said that he would kill him if he didn’t stop the lich king and illidan needs Kil’jaeden to live.

Kall and Arthus fight and kull is about to die and but teleports away and lives to fight another day. After the fight the Crypt lord tells Arthus about the secrets passages of his ancient city, and that it will get them there quicker, because he needs to beat illidan out. As he gets there he sees a shadow ahead, and it’s has a horns and wings and thinks that it’s a Burning Crusade daemon but turns out to be illidan. They fight and it’s a massive fight and Arthus stabs him, and he thought to be dead.

Arthus then travel to the top of the throne, and places his armor on and Ner’Zhul enters Arthus spirit and they combine to make the Lick King.
